We left Austria really early so we could have the afternoon/evening in Venice. We ended up arriving at our campsite at around three, and then heading over to Venice on the ferry. In Venice, we went on a walking tour to see some of the sights, including a beautiful spiral staircase and the Pheonix Opera House. Our guide explained how Venice was built, as well as how they used to collect water (cisterns to collect rain). After the tour, we went on gondola rides. We got to see all the little canals and bridges. There were quite a few wooden doors at the water level that had half rotten away. After the ride, we went our separate ways to eat dinner and shop. We spent some time sitting in St. Mark's Square (Piazza San Marco) and watching the pigeons. At 9:00, we had to catch a ferry to return to our campsite, and we had a bit of an early night.
