Touring the Vatican

Julie

So today we had to leave out apartment. Since our flight is tomorrow, we're spending the night in Rome and we went to visit the Vatican. We had a tour through the museum, and then we got to visit the Sistine Chapel, which was beautiful. But I have no pictures to show you for the day.

Also, since this is our last day in Italy, I'm going to give you our list of observations over the past month.

1. Police and ambulance sirens sound like sick bagpipes.

2. Street signs are often camouflaged against the sides of buildings.

3. Pedestrians and cars to do not care/notice one another.

4. Often, you must pay to use a public washroom.

5. Toilets are weirdly connected to the walls. The flush button is always in the wall.

6. Pharmacies all have glowing first-aid cross signs.

7. There is a lack of milk.

8. There is a lack of vegetables.

9. People smoke everywhere, and almost everyone does it.

10. Italian bus drivers are insane.

11. Gift stores in museums are called Book Shops.

12. People seem to share each other (we've dubbed this the Free Love Phenomenon).

Those are all the observations I can think of at the moment. Maybe I'll think of more and tell you all about them in person!

Bye for now!

About Me

My name is Julie, and I love getting to explore new places. I live in Ottawa, Canada, but I was very lucky to grow up in Germany and travel around Europe as a kid. As we travelled, my family often camped out instead of staying in hotels. We once camped beside Loch Ness (no monster sightings, sadly)!
