Field Trip - Rome

Julie

Updated: May 31, 2019

We went into Rome today, first to the Villa Guilia which is a museum. We weren't allowed to take pictures, but it was all Etruscan stuff and had some pieces similar to things we've been finding. After that, we went to go see the Ara Pacis, which is an Augustan Altar of Peace. I did take pictures there.

It's a little hard to tell from the pictures, but it's huge. And it had a really nice building set up around it with huge windows so that it's all natural light. After that, we got on our bus and sort of had a little bus tour of Rome, where we drove past many cool things and tried to figure out what they were. Then, we had a pit stop to walk down the Appia Way, which was one of the main roads in ancient Rome. We walked through a sat of old Roman walls along the way.

That was it for the day. Now we're just eating dinner before going home to watch a movie with some of the other Octohousians (Dunno if I mentioned this before, but I started calling us the Octohouse).

Good night!

About Me

My name is Julie, and I love getting to explore new places. I live in Ottawa, Canada, but I was very lucky to grow up in Germany and travel around Europe as a kid. As we travelled, my family often camped out instead of staying in hotels. We once camped beside Loch Ness (no monster sightings, sadly)!
