Alleppey, Amma, and the Engagement

Julie

Updated: Jun 4, 2019

We drove back to Alleppey today for the engagement party. We stopped along the way to visit a temple that was built up around the house of a woman known as Amma, who is a spiritual leader and humanitarian. She started an organization called "Embrace the World", which has started schools and helps with disaster relief. It was a really cool place and we would have loved to stay longer, but we didn't have time.

Afterwards we returned to Alleppey for the engagement, as well as join up with my other friends from highschool, Rolla, Runna and her husband Hassan! It was great to finally see them!

The engagement was lovely and we listened to some emotional speeches from both sides of the family. The food was delicious! We did take pictures but none on my phone so I can't share them here. Tomorrow we are heading to get another part of Kerala!
